Before I gave my apartment a little spring refresh, I spent the entire day (before) giving it a nice deep clean, and declutter! And if there’s anymore more refreshing than that itself idk what it is! There’s just something so calming, relaxing, and refreshing about a clean and organized home amiright? Even if it is just for a few days (or hours) 😛
I think we can all agree that life is BUSY! Things pop up here and there and there’s almost never enough time in the day to get everything done that you need done, yeah? Make refreshing your space for spring a “me time” moment. Schedule one day to yourself dedicated to spring cleaning and refreshing. I PROMISE you, you’ll feel a sense of calmness when everything is done and put together that when the storm comes you’ll be ready to take on anything! Give it a try! Even if it is just ONE of these things, make it happen and do it for yourself! Let’s jump into ways to refresh your home for spring!
WAYS TO REFRESH YOUR HOME THIS SPRING
spring cleaning – One of the best ways to refresh your home for spring, of course! Blast some music, (or put on your favorite podcast) whip out your trusty vacuum, light a candle and get to rockin’! Give your home a nice clean slate for the new season!
swap out your throw pillows – You can make them as springy as you want, or simply just different from what you had before. We don’t realize how repetitive our lives can be, so simply just switching up a few pillows each season can really feel like a big change! Marshalls, Homegoods, and TJMAXX are my go to pillow spots but you can also find really cute pillow covers online if you’re not looking to purchase an entire pillow and would like to reuse the inserts for other holidays/seasons!
flowers – I don’t know what it is about fresh flowers but I swear they just make for a better mood! & to be honest I personally think buying flowers is a waste of money IF you do it every week, or every month etc. May it be my husband is rubbing off on me? And I quote “you just watch your money die right there on the counter”. But I am also a firm believer of my first sentence. So if you think buying that $10 bouquet of flowers at the market will brighten your mornings, DO IT and do it NOW! * I only buy them at the beginning of spring and I look forward to it every year!
candles – always candles. Yes, this is another one of those “you watch your money burn on the counter” type things my husband speaks to, but this one I weather I agree with it or not, will not change 😛 The candle queen will not give it up! This is such an easy and affordable way to simply refresh your home but just adding a new scent! Rose Water & Ivy from Bath and Body Works is my absolute spring favorite! I actually use thus scent all spring and summer and then switch to pumpkins and apple for fall so I’m excited to have it out again! But if you’re browsing Marshalls, TJMAXX, or Homegoods the brand “sand+fog” are the best. I’ll link my favorites below!
switch up a throw on your bedding – add a new throw blanket to your bedroom, or living room. You can even switch the color of your sheets/bedding. Something very simple, affordable, but still a nice change! I’ve said this in my March favorites post, and on my stories, and to just about every friend that the Pendleton blankets are A DREAM COME TRUE blanket I swear. I never want another kind of blanket ever again. *not being dramatic at all!!* so take a look at those before you start browsing 😛
an accent wall – this is more of a bigger refresh, but still affordable! Is there a space in your home you’ve been DYING to switch up but just haven’t blocked out the time to do so? Now is that time!! Make it happen and feel good about it 🙂
switch out decor on your favorite nook – if you’ve been following my instagram, you know I have a favorite nook in my apartment! Being in an apartment doesn’t give you many options when it comes to a full decor refresh but if you just find that one spot that gives you joy and decorate it for each holiday it’ll have that same feeling!
declutter/organize/and donate – you know what they say, “out with the old in with the new!” Except with this refresh concept, let’s say “out with the old, prepare for the new!” You don’t always need to keep replacing items with NEW (I know ladies, this one is hard for us to grasp!) but if you haven’t used/worn something in the last 6 months(or the last season it should have been worn in)… it’s time to go! And if you’re truly bad at getting rid of those things, try just removing it from sight and placing it in a bag or box in the garage or storage and give yourself a date. If you don’t go looking for it/need it/remember having it by that date, donate! But at least your closet space will free up and feel a lot less cluttered! We could also be talking about kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, pantry, linen closets, guest rooms, etc etc!!
buy a plant! – If you’re not a flower person (or a watching your money die type of person) but you still love the greenery and freshness, than I think a nice plant is right up your alley! If you’re anything like me and fear you’ll kill it within the first month, start with a snake plant! They require VERY little maintenance and are still super cute plants! Head over to your local floral shop and I’m sure you’ll have some luck 🙂
update your picture frames! Maybe that’s by adding new photos or maybe try adding printables to your frames for each holiday or event! It’s a very chic and creative way to add that touch of the holiday without overdoing it on the tacky side right?! Super cute!!

rearrange your furniture – another great one for ways to refresh your home for spring! And again, VERY affordable as you already have all the pieces! Just, place them in a new layout! When I was younger I use to rearrange my room probably every two months! It was like a hobby of mine to feel like I had a brand new room (even if the layout was the same as it was a few months before) it just gives off a sense of NEW, ya know?
add wall decor to empty spaces – Any empty walls in a certain room that you can think of? Maybe purchase a piece of artwork you’ve been eyeing for a while. Or add a beautiful mirror for that nice classic touch! MAYBE you even DIY a cute painting etc. There are many affordable ways you can add to an empty wall! Check out my friend Samantha’s post here for some ideas!
switch out your family room rug – maybe you have a neutral rug year round but you’ve been wanting to add in a poop of color but just didn’t think it would “work” well here is your excuse to swap out that rug and add in a bold fun rug for the spring! Make it fun, make it so every time you walk into that room you’re just filled with happiness from the bold colors! *always make sure to check measurements!*
provide springy hand soaps & towels in restrooms – refresh your hand soaps! This one is another fave of mine! Our trusty Bath and Body Works for the win with all the different seasonal scents. And cute and non tacky hand towels always brighten up the smaller forgotten areas like your powder bath!
