2022 Realistic New Years Resolutions
First, before we dive in, I just wanted to say W T F !!!! How am I ALREADY writing another post on my New Years resolutions. Like, actually!!? I can’t believe it! Time really does fly by!! With that being sad though, I think my favorite (sometimes least favorite) thing to do before writing out my new New Years Resolutions, is to re-read my previous one and see if any of them stuck. So, finger crossed… let’s see if last years was a hit or not!
RECAP of 2021:
1.) I have failed myself on #1 : started off hot leading up to our wedding in June and now here I am making it #1 again. UGH! But honestly, even if I stuck with it completely all year, it would still be #1 because who doesn’t want their health and wellness as a top priority?!
2.) I’m LOLing at this. Since last years post, I have lived in 4 different locations in 2021. West Virgina(USA), Ohio(USA), Quebec City(CA), and now Regina, Saskatchewan(CA). So I would say exploring more was a check mark, but I have lots to learn about my new home so maybe I’ll add this one in there too!
3.) Of course some days are better than others, but overall I would say CHECK!
4.) New tradition… still needs some work! Open to fun suggestions 🙂
5.) I’m not a big drinker in general so this one is a check. *I’m a special occasion drinker 😛
6.) Honestly, I’m pretty sure this one will be on here every single year. I struggle SO HARD with saying no and letting it effect me in such negative ways! ugh send help.
7.) It took me ALL of the 12 months to finally work on myself a little more. So here’s to a new journey and keeping this bad boy on the list!
8.) more sleep… is anyone else with me on being so bad at that? It takes me HOURRRRRS to fall asleep. Once I’m asleep I’m good, its just actually getting there. wah. Keeping this on the list as well! More melatonin please 🙁
9.) We did purchase a couch… and it is a dream… but now I guess I will work on the trip! HAHA I obviously didn’t know I was moving to Canada when I wrote this because ya girl can’t save money when she’s not able to legally work 😛 let’s try this one again!
10.) I hope this one is a check! But since it is relevant always, I’ll keep it 🙂

Since I’m not a big “journal gal”, I know weird since I enjoy writing LOL, but what if this year, at the beginning and ending of each month, we circle back to our New Years resolutions just to see how we are doin?! Look at what we could improve on or what we achieved? Maybe even add to it? I think I’ll try it, honestly! I’ve actually already wrote it in my planner each month to do so. So, fingers crossed!
What better way to try to stay on top of the things you truly want to work on? IDK! I may even go as far as getting a little journal for the occasion. I’ve had my eye on this one, and even though it’s a daily thing and like I said above I’m not big on it, I think it’ll be beneficial overall!? Well see!!
Top 10 New Years Resolutions
1.) Put your health & wellness above anything!! Consistency is key, in anything! I want to consistently show up for myself in a healthy way. Mentally and physically! Working out use to be my favorite part of the day and I want that back so badly!
2.) Be nicer to yourself. Like seriously Baylie! Get it together. We can’t be doing this anymore! For every negative thought or word, TWO positives need to come with it.
3.) Start a new hobby! A huge part of why I feel so alone in our new home location, is due to the lack of community I have. Back home you have friends and family to surround yourself with. With the hockey lifestyle you have all the other wives and girlfriends to relate to & with. But out here… it feels like there’s no one!
I’m unable to legally work at the moment, so that even eliminates colleagues for a start! Lord knows it’s nearly impossible to make friends as an adult doing nothing, so might as well find friends who have the same interests as me! Anyway, this is high on the list for sure! 😛
4.) Regulate a set routine. I THRIVE in a routine based environment. Though I’ve been struggling with setting a consistent one since I don’t technically “have to” have one at the moment. So I’m snapping out of that mindset and snapping into “YES, I HAVE to have one” to even just feel a little normal and back to myself!
5.) Make self care a priority. Take care of yourself constantly, that way you don’t have to make up for lost time when your tank is hitting E! Will I ever learn? Let’s hope!!! It’s like cleaning.. you pick up after yourself throughout the day so you don’t have a HUGE mess at the end of the week/month/year.. right?! So why can’t this be as easy, shew! Let’s make it that easy starting now!
6.) Learn/do something new each day that helps you reach your goals. I LOVE learning new things. Especially ones that align with the goals I have for my future! Whether it’s a new workout, something for your career, a new French word or saying ETC. We are learning more this year 😛
7.) Wardrobe revamp! This one may seem silly to some because material items are not a resolution, but to me it’s literally something I dream about. I now finally have a closet/dresser that is going to be staying put, and not having to be packed up multiple times a year! I will also be able to legally work soon which means I won’t feel guilty cracking into my savings for a pair of jeans 😛 HOLLLLLA
8.) Choose a fulfilling career path. I’ve had a LOT of time to think about what is next when it comes to my career choice. Do I want to jump into the same industry here in Canada? Or do I want to switch gears and try something new. Extremely nerve wracking but exciting at the same time!
9.) Consistently blog relevant content. Blogging has been an incredible hobby and way of spending my free time and I love it so much. But I want to make sure that my readers also love it as much as I do! Providing relevant, relatable, and helpful content is my number one blogging goal of the year! *I’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions on what you want + like from me at Simplyliving! Comment below or DM me on instagram 🙂
10.) Make the most of every situation. Lately this one has been extremely hard for me. And I expect this one to be the hardest on my list. I wasn’t always this way so I know I can work on it and feel comfortable with the outcome. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t take the full year and I have to write about it again 😛
Honestly, I feel like I could add soooo many other things to this list, but at what point would that just be overwhelming and do more damage than good ya know? So here’s to keeping it simple!! I know making New Years resolutions arn’t for everyone, and that’s okay!! But if it is something you enjoy, I really hope, after reading this, it inspires you to create your very own (realistic) New Years Resolutions list for this year!
CHEERS FRIENDS! I’ll see you in 2022 🙂
