34 genius beauty tips you need to know ASAP
I don’t know about you but I’m HERE for all the beauty tips and tricks to make life easier, or just all around better, yeah?! And seriously, it’s SO MUCH FUN (to me at least) to learn new beauty tips and tricks to try. Especially when they actually work 😛 So, here are a few that I’ve learned along the way and want to share with you 🙂
36 beauty tips you’ll want to know ASAP
1.) shaving your face -helps makeup lay better, helps skincare ingredients better penetrate the skin. Though always go around and never go over pimples, it will make inflammation worse! Do this 1-2 times a month, and don’t over exfoliate. Also, it’s a myth… it will not make hair grow back thicker or darker!
2.) use an eye make up remover for your eyes instead of makeup wipes! Even if you use a Makeup Eraser, you should go over your eyes with eye makeup remover!
3.) PAT, DON’T RUB the bowl across your face when drying! This also applies for your you’re applying your eye cream. Pat it on gently with your index finger, don’t rub or spread.
4.) don’t look down at your phone while on it. I catch myself doing this one all the time! It can cause fine lines and wrinkles, and results in loss of firmness in the neck – uh, SAY LESS!!!!!
5.) if you put a little bit of Vaseline directly on the spot where you put your perfume, it will last longer!!
6.) don’t wet your beauty sponge with water before blending out your concealer, spray it with setting spray (wait a little so it’s not completely wet) I’m telling you, for some reason, this is a game changer!
7.) silk pillow case!! Has SOO many beauty benefits for not only your skin, but your hair!
8.) avoid conditioning the scalp! your roots are already naturally oily, but our hair needs the hydration so apply conditioner from the mid to the ends of the hair!
9.) after moisturizing, apply translucent powder all over your face, spray setting spray (allow to dry) and thennnnn apply your primer and the rest of your makeup! When I do remember to do this, I end up loving my makeup! I also only do this when I’m going for more of a makeup look instead of an everyday natural look.
10.) brush your hair, ends up. I never not do this, it’s just… you have to!
11.) take cold to warm showers not hot! And if you’re like me, yeah right! And that’s okay, just be sure to change it to cool water while rinsing your hair(SO healthy for your hair). Or for the last few minutes of your shower to really build your immune system, improve circulation, increase endorphins, speed up cell recovery, and to get you awake and ready to go!
12.) if you get mascara on your eyelid while applying – wait until you’re finished with your full face or makeup and it’s dry and use a spooky to flake it right off, instead of smudging! *just don’t forget LOL. My favorite mascara is a combination between two. I use the Fanorama first, and top it with the Lancome monsieur!
13.) curl your eyelashes BEFORE putting on mascara. Also applying a little heat is nice too – I usually breathe over it a couple times rather than getting my blow dryer out ya knowww – also don’t just clamp down and hold, pulse it while moving to the middle!
14.) NEVER NEVER NEVER LITERALLY EVER SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON – LIKE EVERRRRR! This is a straight SIN! And don’t forget #2!
15.) Invest more in your skincare + skincare routine than makeup. seriously. Read, Why you need a strict skincare routine, here! And 6+ anti-aging skincare tips here!
16.) don’t want to spend more on clear eyebrow gel, use your clear mascara primer for the same effect and just get a little pack of spoolys – works like a charm!
17.) Vaseline and caster oil on a spooly – on the eyelashes if you’re not sure on purchasing lash serum!
18.) LESS IS ALWAYS MORE! ALWAYS!
19.) use your ring finger to PAT your under eye cream, or when applying anything with your fingers – it’s proven to have the most gentle touch – awe, get it?! <3
20.) it’s not the mascara, it’s the wand! Find a wand type you love and I promise you’ll never find a mascara that you “hate”!
21.) try this! After you hair spray your hair, instead of flattening it with your hand, flatten it out with the can!
22.) shave with conditioner and not shaving cream! The conditioner will soften your hair and make it easier to shave. It should also make your skin feel smoother! I can no longer confirm because I’ve been using conditioner since I was probably 16 so I don’t remember the time with shaving cream LOL!
23.) Vitamin C & Omega-3’s should be your bff’s for healthier looking skin! If you’re wanting to dive deeper into the benefits of those just read my post on anti aging skin care tips
24.) my scalp is SOOO oily! I can hardly go two days without washing it. So my trick for day 3 hair is to spray dry shampoo in your hair at night, before bed, – DO NOT BLEND IT IN! Literally just let it sit over night! I will usually part my hair and spray throughout then put my hair up in a bun (I know that part is technically bad but hey it works for me) and then blend it/rub it in, in the morning!
25.) after applying your concealer under your eyes, use a brush to evenly spread it all out BEFORE using your damp beauty sponge to blend it in! You will get more use out of your product and, to me, it blends and sets sooo evenly I will never not do this anymore!
26.) after applying blush to your cheek bones, use the access blush on the brush to gently swipe over the top bridge of your nose! It gives for the cutest most subtle little pop!
27.) back to the dry shampoo – it really does work in many ways. If your hair is looking a little dull and flat, spilt your hair, spray, and repeat until you feel necessary and then massage into scalp and watch it plump! This works especially if you don’t feel like also purchasing the volumizing spray or teasing your hair so much!
28.) making your lashes look thicker and fuller – after applying your first coat of mascara, gently dust your lashes with a cost of translucent powder, then proceed with your second coat!
29.) is your mascara clumping and you don’t know why?! Simple, put a few drops of saline solution (if you or your S.O have contacts you already have this!) not only will it add moisture for the mascara but it will lengthen it’s shelf life – win win!
30.) my ultimate fave beauty tips / hack right here! Before you throw away your “empty” liquid tubes of skincare or makeup – DON’T! Squeeze all that you can to the bottom of the tube, CUT the tube in half to get more product, and then simply use the other side of the tube as a lid.. you wouldn’t believe how many more days you can get out of what you think is an “empty” bottle of something!
31.) did you know you should technically be cleaning your makeup brushes ONCE A WEEK – say whaaat. I like to use this brush cleaner once a week, but deep deep clean ing my brushes may be longer oops. Need to work on this one!
32.) oil blotters are A MUST HAVE ITEM in every bag you own! These are only $6 each for 75 blotters. I will panic if I go out and don’t have them hahah!!! It’s so gross but so necessary!
33.) elevate your legs! I follow a fellow hockey gal and she SWEARS by this! Scoot your booty up against the wall and elevate those legs straight up to soothe swollen or cramped muscles, reduce inflammation, relives lower back tension.. literally there are so many benefits to list but I highly recommend!
34.) COLLAGEN!!! As you get older, you loose so much of your skins elasticity and it’s SUPER important implement that back! My post on health and beauty benefits from collagen goes more into depth, but you can also get collagen in many foods, liquid supplements and vitamins!
