6 simple ways to improve your morning routine | perfect for productivity
Having some sort of structure in your morning routine, is so important! It helps create a healthier routine for the entire day! Not saying every morning should look the EXACT same, kind of boring right, but at least have some sort of structure in your morning routine that will set you up for a more productive day!
First, waking up earlier than your usual time, allows for you to accomplish all of the things below on top of what you already need to get done, to create a STRESS-FREE morning routine for a productive day! There is nothing worse than rushing in the morning, is there? I personally don’t think so, it’s the worst!!!
Before I start my morning by the following list below, it has been important for me to complete my five minute journal prompt – and honestly, I’m not sure if it’s just all in my head (who cares though that’s kinda the point), but since doing this I have had some pretty great (happy!) and productive days!! It’s the little things right 🙂
1.) breakfast
Its sooooooo cliche to say breakfast is such and important part for your morning routine; but it really really reeeealllly is you guys!!!! I’ve also been told it’s not about what time you eat, what what the first thing is that you eat that sets the day up for success! Example, if the first thing you eat in the day is a bowl of fruit or protein shake, it sets you up for a healthier day. Whereas if you have a bowl of sugary cereal first thing, you have now woken your insulin and your body will most likely go on a snowball effect of sugary foods all day! Of course you always have control over the things you eat, but when your body is wanting sugar and you’re forcing veggies – it’s just an unhealthy relationship ya know!
2.) vitamins
THISSS. This has been the biggest game changer of my entire year! taking my b-12, vitamin c, and omega 3 vitamins every morning has done WONDERS for my skin alone. These three vitamins are my vity’s of choice – mainly for all of their benefits for healthy skin (I have an obsession with skincare routines) but there are SO MANY benefits from these vitamins.
3.) move your body
My whole life I’ve been more of a morning workout gal. But lately with my recent lifestyle change, I prefer a midday or night workout. I 100% will eventually get back into the swing of morning workout but for now this is my reality. BUT moving your body in the morning can look and be completely different than just a workout. Going for a quick walk (not here in Sask right now thats for sure) a morning stretch, meditation, online yoga class, whatever it may be to get your body warm, lose, and ready for the day!
4.) love your skin
Skincare is basically a no brainier. if you are not doing your skincare every morning already, we’ve got some problems! LOL jokes aside, read my 5 easy steps to a better morning skincare routine if you’re looking for something new or need more structure in that too! Like I said above, I’m obsessed with my skincare routine! BUT aside form that since it’s a no brainier, this can mean taking a nice bath or shower! Lathering up with your favorite body lotion, Or my favorites – cooling collagen eye gels and an ice roller! Just take some extra time to love on and take care of the skin you were given!
5.) get yo’ coffee guurl
I wish I was one of those girls that was like “I don’t need coffee, I don’t depend on coffee, I have natural energy” etc. etc. but I’m just not …. and honestly do I realllllly wish I was that girl? Nahh. I LOVE my coffee and there’s literally no shame 😛 It’s something I look forward to every night before going to bed – knowing I’ll have a cup of coffee in the morning. YUM. Take your cup with you while getting ready, or enjoy it sitting alone in silence – either way, enjoy it 🙂
6.) review your to-do list
Circle back that your to-do list you made with me as part of your relaxing and simple night time routine, and let’s conquer the day! I don’t know about you but to-do lists are my thing, and checking each item off just feels so magical! It also helps me really focus on what I need to get done that day instead of thinking of all the 891475348732 things I need to do, when in reality they don’t need to be done THAT day… ya know?!
TRUTH BE TOLD
These all may seem extremely cliche – but how many do you actually do consistanttly? Exactlyyyyyy. The key is to start small and be REALISTIC!!! Nothing here sounds groundbreaking, but if you gradually do all of these each morning, you’ll feel better about conquering the day! I hope you enjoyed, and were able to take something from this post and use it towards your morning routine goals!
What I’ll be working on: waking up earlier!!! I thrive in the mornings when it comes to being productive, but it’s the actual act of waking up early that I struggle to do! One of my best friends wakes up to workout at 4am and I strive to be like her (maybe not 4am for me haha but like 6 or 7?!) What about you? What are some things you would like to work more on in your morning routine?! Drop a comment below or DM me on instagram to chat more!
