5 easy steps to a better morning skincare routine
If washing your face and doing your skincare routine isn’t the first thing you do when you wake up (maybe second lol) then you’re in the right place! Your skincare in the morning is SO important and a crucial part of your daily routine!! If you haven’t already, read my post on why you need a strict skincare routine and my post on anti-aging skincare tips and then circle back to this post with all of that motivation!!
It’s the end of the day and you’ve taken your makeup off and you’re ready for the BEST PART OF THE NIGHT! What are your go to’s? Assuming you have some sort of go to, but are looking for more of a set nighttime skincare routine, considering you’ve landed on this post! I’m here to make a routine for you, SO SIMPLE, you won’t dread having to do it every single night, but instead look forward to doing it every single night! If you don’t already have a skincare routine, please read my post on 6 reasons why you need a strict skincare routine, and then come back to this post 🙂
morning skincare routine
1| rinse + refresh
First thing that I do is rinse and refresh, which is taking my micellar water and a cotton pad and removing the oil and dirt from during the night! You won’t believe what you will see on this cotton pad!
2| cleanse
After using the micellar water to remove any oil and dirt from during the night, I use a silicone face scrubber to apply my cleanser! It’s cheap and simple but a total game changer! I typically do this step in the shower because I find it 10000% less messy. You know what I’m talking about! Water dripping from your face onto the counter, water running down your forearms onto the floor or your shirt etc.! You see, just a lot easier in the shower!!
3| moisturize
As I mentioned in my nighttime skincare routine, this is my favorite part of both my nighttime and my morning skincare routine!! After I dry my face (PAT do not RUB dry) from cleansing, in circular motions, I apply my moisturizer! Click here for my favorite moisturizer!
4| eye cream
This is another, PAT don’t RUB, type of thing! Use your ring finger to gently apply your under eye cream! You use your ring finger because it’s proven to have the most gentle touch (awe, get it!! <3) Click here for my favorite under eye cream!
5| sunscreen
Sunscreen is sooooo important!! Even if it’s a rainy, cold, gloomy day… you still need sunscreen! Even if you are inside for the majority of the day, you still need sunscreen!! If you want to go deeper into why you need sunscreen, read my anti-aging skin care tips post – I mean, the title speaks for itself 😉 Luckily for us, we can usually find makeup/skincare products that have SPF in it already! But it never hurts to add another layer. I use this foundation primer, everyday, that has SPF in it and I loveeee it because you would never even know you have “another layer” on! It’s extremely light and airy!
BONUS:
I’ll also add in there, my eyelash serum! I have become lazy with this step simply because I ran out and was without it for a while and now forget sometimes. The product and the price point are amazing. *I’ve heard both good and bad feedback from friends and family that have tried this, some say they saw nothing and others say they are obsessed! So, like with anything, one size does not fit all – but worth a try! (it’s also not pregnancy safe)
SWEET + SIMPLE
I’m a firm believer that you don’t need ALL OF THE THINGS to have the best skincare routine. Like I mention in my 34 genius beauty tips you need to know asap post, LESS IS MORE, and that can very well be the case with your nighttime skincare routine! or not! You do you! But I do truly hope this helps you narrow down a set, simple, skincare routine that you’re able to stick with and feel better about your skin 🙂
Everyone’s skin is different, and there’s no secret that skincare is NOT one size fits all! Figure out which brand/products work for you and stick with it! Consistency is key! I’ve also downloaded a free MaryKay Skin Analyzer app on my phone and it scans your face to let you know your problem areas AND what type of skin you have. Can you believe I was using “normal to dry” for years, and I tried the app and switched to “combination/oily” like recommended and my skin has never felt soooo good! So weird!! It’s worth a shot to see at least what you should be looking for!
